How to read the box
- Price: the latest spot price for one troy ounce (31.1035 g) of gold in US dollars. The change and % change compare it with the previous day's close.
- Day's range: today's low and high so far, as the feed defines its trading day.
- Market closed: spot gold trades almost 24 hours from Sunday evening to Friday evening (New York time), with a short daily break. At weekends the box shows Friday's last price.
- Spot is not a shop price: coins, bars and jewellery sell above spot because of making charges, dealer margins and taxes.
